Libyan rebel leaders declared that their administration is out of money, given that donor pledges have not materialized.
In a press conference Sunday at Benghazi, they said they expected the funds would be submitted no later than last week and launched an urgent appeal for foreign financial aid, reports BBC News.
Although they received promises of assistance from Western and Arab supporters, the rebels have not yet received the money, explained representatives of the National Transitional Council (CNT).
TRC believes that it needs three billion dollars to cover salaries and other expenses necessary for the next six months.
So far, they have covered the payment of money in central bank branch in Benghazi Libya. But the safes were empty, said rebel adviser on issues of strategy Mullah Abdul Shamsuddin.
Mullah Abdul said that the rebels hoped that the delay in grant funds is temporary, but is becoming increasingly difficult to explain.
TRC needs quick money to buy medical products for the combatants and to avoid public frustration with the deteriorating situation.
The rebels control a third of Libya, especially east of the country, and several cities in the West, and Misra. The capital, Tripoli, is still under government control.
I have one question: when fighters on behalf of "clean ideals" need to pay? For armamament have anyway!
